Conway Plant May Rebuild After Fire

Updated: January 7, 2009
In Conway, Detco Industries might rebuild near its former site. The company`s former plant burned in a spectacular explosion and fire in January. Since then, Conway Development Corporation has agreed to sell Detco five acres of industrial park land. Corporation official Brad Lacy says the parcel would enable Detco to build a bigger plant, one with room for further expansion. Detco makes industrial chemicals and aerosol products, such as cleaners and disinfectants. Officials said a valve leaking propane gas apparently was the ignition point for the January sixth fire. Two workers were injured.
