Search For Two Suspects Scaled Back

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The scaled-back ground and air search continues for two men accused of shooting a state trooper, but authorities acknowledge they may have left the Ozark Mountains area by now. Mark Holsombach and William Frazier disappeared after a gunfight with ten to 15 state and local officers on Monday. Police surrounded their property of shanties and thought they were inside. Ten hours later, they entered a cabin they had been tear-gassing to find they were gone. For more than four days, state police said they were confident the fugitives were still in the area because they had been tracking vehicle traffic. But today, Van Buren County Sheriff Scott Bradley said authorities simply don`t know if the men are still in the treacherous, heavily wooded area near Alread.
