County Will Put Up Traffic Light Where Cheerleaders Died In Car Accident

Updated: January 7, 2009
Pulaski County officials are planning to install a temporary traffic signal at the intersection where three Sylvan Hills High cheerleaders were killed in a crash last week. The three teenagers -- Taylor Hall, Alicia Rix and Jae Lynn Russell -- died when their car made a turn at the intersection of highways five and 89 and crashed into an oncoming tractor trailer. The truck had the right-of-way, but a steep hill makes it hard to see oncoming traffic. Russell`s mother Becky said the new light has "been too long a-coming." The temporary signal could cost $50,000 and take two and a half months.
