By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The McGehee police chief and other members of the city`s police force are threatening to quit over the behavior of a fellow officer. Sergeant Phillip Bandy said he refused to stop in his personal vehicle when a state trooper tried to pull him over for speeding because he thought it was a joke. He admitted to driving 80 miles an hour at about Two in the morning Saturday, but said he considered it "a gag ... on a slow night." He said he pulled over after the chase went on for about a mile. The trooper did not report the incident, but notified McGehee Police Chief Stacy Cantrell. The chief and seven other officers said they were looking for other jobs because they considered Bandy a "disgrace to the department."
