Families Of Soldiers Will Benefit From Fundraising Drive

Updated: January 7, 2009
Families of soldiers are to benefit from a fund-raising drive by the United Way of Pulaski County. The money will help families of National Guard or reserve members who are on extended active duty, which can sometimes leave their dependents in a bind. The chapter created the Arkansas Homefront Fund to help those left at home for a year or more and trying to cope with unexpected bills, other financial obligations and unforeseen hardships. About 45-hundred Arkansas Army National Guard, Army Reserve and Air National Guard troops are on active duty domestically and overseas. Lieutenant Governor Winthrop Rockefeller is honorary chairman of the fund.
