Goodrich Plant Gets New Owner

Updated: January 7, 2009
A Hot Springs company plans to buy the former Goodrich Aerostructures plant in Arkadelphia. Goodrich and Chemco Aerospace, formed by a group of aerospace professionals, are currently in negotiations, according to Gail Warner, a spokeswoman for Goodrich. In December 2001, Goodrich officials announced the company was closing the plant because of poor market conditions in the airline industry. The plant had 175 workers at that time and made parts for out-of-production Boeing aircraft. Chemco intends to use equipment purchased at a recent Goodrich auction to expand its existing operations. Chemco said it expects to create a "moderate" number of jobs at the Arkadelphia plant. Kelly Timbs, a founding partner of the new company, said Chemco will be able to work on products made at C-M-T, a sheet metal aircraft parts manufacturer in Hot Springs. Posted by Mike Hellgren
