A prisoner is back in custody today -- less
than twelve hours after he escaped from the Pulaski County jail.
A Little Rock police officer spotted 35-year-old Hezekiah
Pierce, who somehow opened a padlocked door and scaled a fence
topped with razor wire Monday morning.
Pulaski County sheriff`s spokesman John Rehrauer (ray-ROUW-er)
said Pierce was arrested with no resistance and the county plans to
file escape charges.
Pierce was serving a 20-year sentence and has escaped custody
once before.
The sheriff`s office is conducting two investigations into the
escape. One is aimed to explain Pierce`s escape. Officials also
want to determine whether two jailers responsible for him at the
time followed departmental procedure.
