Updated: January 7, 2009
Officials say a Crawford County man died in a mobile home fire this morning after trying to save his daughter and her boyfriend, who were later rescued by firefighters. Forty-year-old Manuel Castro died in the early morning fire. Castro, his wife, and their three grandchildren had made it out of the home safely, but Castro returned to the home to find his daughter and her boyfriend. Firefighters pulled 20-year-old K-C Castro and her boyfriend from the fire but were unable to rescue Castro. Investigators believe the fire started near a wood-burning stove. K-C and her boyfriend were hospitalized in critical condition. Deputies did not release the boyfriend`s name because they were attempting to reach his family in Mexico. Posted by Mike Hellgren
