The future of Arkansas Virtual School looks bleak after the House and Senate voted to override Governor Huckabee decision to fund the program. After the federel government slashed funding by 40%, the school applied for and received charter school status making it eligible for state funds. Governor Huckabee voted to fund the program, which serves about 450 students from 1st to 7th grade. But on Friday, both houses approved a line-item veto removing state funds for the school. Student currently enrolled in the school will be allowed to continue their education, but the program will not expand. The Department of Education plans a meeting on Monday to discuss the fate of the school
