breaking news
An alleged robber is in critical condition at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
That`s after being shot several times by Little Rock Police Saturday night.
It happened just after the man allegedly robbed a liquor store at the corner of Barrow and Kanis Roads.
When he entered Barrow Liquors, no one could see his face. The owner says, 30-year old Dolondon Mack was wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun.
He says Mack demanded money and that he open the register.
"As the officer pulled on the lot, suspect come running out of the business carrying a bag, armed with a handgun. He directed the handgun at the officer," Sgt. Terry Hastings, Little Rock Police Department.
And that`s when police say the officer opened fire on Mack, hitting him several times.
Mack still managed to make his way to the back of the building, where another officer had arrived on the scene.
"The suspect had fallen behind the business, got up and once again gestured toward the officer, that officer fired one round striking the suspect," Hastings said.
Mack was taken to a hospital, but police say he has charges to face once he`s released. Charges that may go beyond just this robbery.
"For the past several weeks, we`ve had overnight business robberies, in the area and along Rodney Parham," Hastings said.
But so far, police have the large amount of money and the gun found at the scene to charge him with aggravated robbery and theft of property.
The names of the two police officers involved in the shooting have not been released yet.
But they have been placed on administrative leave.
