House bill 1145 would place a 7/8 of one percent sales tax on all advertising sales in Arkansas.
The money would be used for education.
Although the bill is only in committee, advertising agents and businesses are already fighting the bill.
It`s estimated every dollar spent on advertising generates $33 in sales. Some say if advertising was taxed, it would lower the amount of ads purchased and therefore lower the sales on all goods.
Representative Bolin who sponsors the bill says everyone wants the legislature to fund education, but no one wants to pay for it.
