breaking news
Temperatures will fall to the low and mid-teens
tonight in much of Arkansas, and officials are urging caution.
The Red Cross says many fires in the winter months are caused by
candles or by overloading electric circuits.
Candles should be kept away from combustible materials and used
safely out of reach of children. Candles should be kept on a stable
surface.
Every home should have a fire extinguisher, and everyone in the
house should know how to use it.
People should not heat their homes with an unvented heat source.
Fireplaces and wood stoves should be inspected for safety and
flues should be cleaned by a professional, if necessary.
Also, beware of overloading electrical outlets, and be sure that
extension cords don`t pose a tripping hazard.
Pets need to be considered, too. It`s best to bring them inside
when temperatures plunge.
