A small Arkansas school district is even smaller today, after a fire destroys two of its buildings. Around 4 o`clock Sunday morning, firefighters responded to a fire at the Casa School District. It`s in Perry county in Central Arkansas. The district superintendent says that in light of everything that`s been going on with education lately, this fire is just another setback. Sherry Holliman says they believe the fire started in a building at the center of campus. It`s an old cafeteria used for art, music and distance learning. After consuming that building, the fire moved to its neighbor, a bigger building used for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classes. About half of that building was burned, but Holliman says it`s probably a total loss. She says the distance leanring equipment will probably be the hardest to replace. But text books and other material supplies have all been lost. "I don`t think it`s anything we can`t overcome, I hate that it happened. It`s a slap to us as a community," said Holliman. Holliman says the buildings and contents were insured for over $300,000 total. Meanwhile, there are no classes on Monday. But when students do return they`ll relocated to other rooms and a nearby church. The Perry County Sheriff is turning the fire investigation over to the state police. There`s no word yet on whether or not they arson.
