By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The Federal Government will not offer extra unemployment compensation to those exhausting state benefits, officials said. The Temporary Emergency Unemployment Compensation program extended benefits twice this year as part of the economic stimulus package. Officials say current economic growth could translation into employment for the millions who are out of work. Here in Arkansas, 32,000 people currently claim unemployment benefits. More than 8,000 Arkansans could lose their benefits as early as January.
