No Reform Plans Okay`d as Deadline Approaches

Updated: January 7, 2009
With less than a week until the court-imposed January 1st deadline, the central questions surrounding the Lakeview decision remain unanswered. On Friday, the House had planned to vote on a funding formula bill, but a clerical error kept that from happening. Consolidation and anti-consolidation bills are expected to come up for debate next week. The Argue consolidation plan cleared the Senate and is awaiting sponsorship in the House. The Weaver plan, which delays consolidation and isn`t numbers based, cleared the House and is up for debate in the Senate. With the court deadline coming next week, lawmakers are expecting some very long days as they tackle and try to agree on key reform issues.
