If you were on the receiving end of a gift card this Christmas, you could be in store for a holiday headache. Hidden fees and service charges can make the season for giving the season for taking away. In order to get what was paid for, make sure to read the fine print that came with the card. When in doubt, call the store and act early. There are a couple of other reasons to take advantage of those gift cards sooner rather than later. Over time, inflation will cut your buying power; also, a weak holiday selling season means big sales in the weeks to come.
