Pulaski County Judge Rules In Huckabee Case

Updated: January 7, 2009
A Pulaski County circuit judge has upheld the state Ethics Commission`s ruling that Governor Huckabee violated ethics laws. But Judge Timothy Fox rejected one of the commission`s findings, that a canoe was an illegal reward for Huckabee doing his job. The judge overturned a $250 fine imposed by the commission stemming from the canoe. Fox said Huckabee should have reported a $200 stadium blanket as a gift, and used campaign funds inappropriately. The judge agreed with the commission that Huckabee shouldn`t have used campaign funds to pay for an event called Gospel Fest. A Huckabee spokesman said campaign workers used about ten dollars of campaign money to print fliers to advertise the even.
