Crime Victims Get Money From The State

Officials from the Attorney General`s office
say 179 crime victims received a total of almost 433-thousand
dollars from the Crime Victims Reparations board in November.
The largest amount, more than 113-thousand, went to 36 crime
victims in Pulaski County.
Benton County in northwest Arkansas was second with a total of
more than 40-thousand dollars awarded to 10 crime victims.
Additional expenses were also paid in 131 previously submitted
cases, according to Beebe`s office.
The victim reparations board was created by the Legislature in
1987. Most awards are limited to a maximum of 10-thousand dollars,
except for catastrophic injuries.
Money for the damage awards comes from fines, court costs and
fees imposed on convicted defendants.
