Lonoke County Jail Under Threat of Closure

Lonoke County Jail could close within six months if the overcrowding problems isn`t corrected, officials said.
County Judge Charlie Troutman received a letter from the Criminal Detention Facilities Review Committee, citing safety concerns for prisoners and employees.
The jail can only house a maximum of 55 prisoners, but exceeded that amount repeatedly throughout the year.
State officials have scheduled three expections over the next six months.
