Saline County`s prosecutor is objecting to Governor Huckabee`s intention to grant clemency for a convicted murderer who bludgeoned a man to death, reportedly with a prosthetic leg. Don Jeffers is serving a life sentence for the July 17th, 1980, death of William Hash during a robbery. Huckabee announced his intention to grant Jeffers clemency yesterday, starting a public comment period of up to 120 days. Saline County Prosecutor Robert Herzfeld, who learned of Huckabee`s intent after it was made public, spent part of today reviewing old files and interviewing court officials who were involved in the case. He sent Huckabee a letter describing Jeffers as "a cold-blooded murderer who should never see the outside of a prison." Posted by Mike Hellgren
