Arkansas Department of Emergency Mangagement Plans Move

Governor Mike Huckabee announced that the state will build an emergency operations center for the Arkasnas Department of Emergency Management at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock. The Camp Robinson facility will replace the existing emergency operations center in Conway.
"The key factors in deciding to build the emergency operations center at Camp Robinson were the existing security of a military base and the availability of a 5,000 foot military airstrip," said the governor.
ADEM Director Wayne Ruthven says this will make things more convenient for everyone. "The central location makes our agency more accessible to many state agencies and local agencies during emergency and non emergency times," says Ruthven.
The new facility will be paid for in part with 12.3 mllion dollars from the department of homeland security.
