The mother of a New Jersey woman killed three years ago at a highway rest stop in Morrilton says the state Highway and Transportation Department didn`t do enough to make the area safe. Lynn Di`Benedetto is giving testimony today for her claim that is before the state Claims Commission. She says the state should have provided better security at the Morrilton rest stop on Interstate 40 where her daughter, Kristin Laurite was stabbed to death in 2000. Laurite`s killer has not been found but California authorities suspect a killer in that state was behind the crime. Before her deposition, the mother said her sister researched the rest stop and discovered numerous crime problems. The rest stop has since closed.
