The roads are clearing up in parts of northern Arkansas. Many areas of the state received their first visit from old man winter Saturday morning. For most of them it was like any other winter day. In Washington County, the overnight snow knocked down a few trees and slowed down traffic. Some areas of the state reoprted up to four inches of snow on the ground. By mid-morning, the snow had stopped falling. In Benton County, the roads were a little slippery, but traffic was able to move along at a pretty good pace. One overnight sheriff`s deputy in Van Buren County said he saw several cars that had driven off the road into ditches. The snow reminding Richard McCormac of past Arkansas winters. "Getting out of school, like all the kids, sitting there looking out the window on a Monday afternoon, and somebody said it might snow," said McCormac. Deputies say while there were only about four inches of snow in Clinton, he noticed about five or six inches of snow about 10 miles west of town. Not too many accidents, roads were passible all day.
