An unexpected delivery means the state
Health Department can continue to give flu shots -- for now.
The department received an extra -- but small - batch of the
vaccine today and hopes it will make a small dent in the influenza
bug that`s struck in all 75 counties.
The department had expected to run out of its 170-thousand doses
of flu vaccine on today, but the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention in Atlanta shipped 880 extra doses.
Health units distributed about half of the extra doses in
central Arkansas and plan to distribute the rest Monday in
Northwest Arkansas. The Health Department says the vaccine will be
available on a first-come, first-served basis.
