Pulaski County Clerk Gets Jury Trial

A trial by jury will decide whether Pulaski County Circuit Clerk Carolyn Staley should step down over her office`s handling of voter records. At a hearing this morning in Pulaski County Circuit Court, Judge Marion Humphrey set a trial to start April 19th, after a pre-trial hearing on March 30th. But that will be after a February 10th sales tax referendum at Maumelle, which lies in Pulaski County. Last month, a Pulaski County grand jury recommended Staley`s removal from office. The grand jury report said Staley "has failed, neglected or incompetently discharged her duties" in keeping the county`s voter registration lists and running elections.
