A new system-wide University of Arkansas
policy allowing students to transfer credit for some courses in
which they received D`s is drawing criticism.
The Faculty Senate at the university`s Little Rock campus voted
unanimously today to object to the decision. The new policy was
adopted last month by the university system`s board.
The policy was originally proposed by the board`s athletic
committee after athletic officials at the Fayetteville campus said
their recruiting efforts were hampered by a rule allowing no
transfer of credit for courses in which a student got a D.
The UALR Faculty Senate did acknowledge that the new rule is now
policy and will be followed.
