A non-custodial mother accused of beating a teacher and taking her seven-year-old son from school is scheduled to be in court tomorrow. Melissa Rasbury of Springhill, Louisiana, is charged with criminal trespass and second-degree battery. Investigators say the 25-year-old went to her son`s classroom at McNeil Elementary School in Magnolia on Friday and tried to take the boy with her. However, her son`s teacher, Jennifer Carter, told Rasbury that the custodial father had told the school the boy was NOT to leave with Rasbury. Police say Rasbury then hit the teacher several times, shoving her into the door and knocking her down before fleeing with the child. Columbia County Sheriff Calvin Knighton says battery of a teacher is a felony but he is not pursuing a kidnapping charge because the Louisiana court system is handling the custody matter.
