Flu Hits Hard In Arkansas

State health officials and medical professionals are hoping people pay a little more attention to an abnormally early and intense outbreak of the flu. Three Arkansans have died from influenza complications and Arkansas Children`s Hospital has counted 351 cases, more than 10 times the number it usually sees through the first week of December. And three Arkansans have died of flu complications. Doctor Robert Bradsher, an infectious disease specialist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, says it`s never too late to get a flu shot, even in the middle of an epidemic. Even though the public health departments are running low on the flu shot vaccine, Little Rock hospitals like Saint Vincent`s and some primary care physicians say they have plenty of doses left at 15 dollars per shot.
