The body of a man who died in police custody
in Nashville will be exhumed and additional autopsies conducted.
The president of the state N-Double-A-C-P says the body of
29-year-old Larry "Nicky" Hill will be exhumed early next week
from Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery.
Dale Charles, president of the N-Double-A-C-P Arkansas State
Conference, says two independent autopsies will be performed.
Hill died in September after being pulled over, running away
from the vehicle and struggling with officers. One officer used
pepper spray to help subdue him.
Police say Hill was in the booking room of the jail when he
began having trouble breathing and collapsed; he was taken to
Howard Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead that
evening.
A preliminary report from an autopsy conducted then says Hill
choked on stomach contents and had small scrapes on his abdomen and
left leg, but there no trauma to his head or neck.
