Acxiom Buys European Company

Little Rock-based Acxiom Corporation will buy a European database company that is expected to triple its revenues from overseas. Company officials announced this morning that the company will buy Claritas Europe, which is a database unit of Dutch publishing and marketing data company VNU--NV. Acxiom is paying forty million in cash for the company that operates a database of consumer lifestyle information for the direct marketing industry. It should expand Acxiom`s European presence to Germany, Spain and the Netherlands while adding to the company`s current presence in England and France. Acxiom anticipates combined revenue from the companies of about 100 million for calendar 2003, about triple its annual European revenue.
