The chairman of President Bush`s re-election
campaign says he expects no problems with the effort in Arkansas to
re-elect the president despite problems with the state party.
Bush campaign chairman Marc Racicot says there are
problems within both party structures at times that have to be
dealt with by local officials. He says Republicans in Arkansas are
united behind re-electing Bush to a second term next year.
Bush campaign chairman Marc Racicot, a former Montana
governor and chairman of the Republican National Committee, was in
Little Rock today. He announced Governor Mike Huckabee and
Lieutenant Governor Winthrop Rockefeller to head the Bush-Cheney
effort in Arkansas for next years election.
He spoke as state GOP leadership tries to get a handle on
hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and negotiate a the amount
of a fine the party must pay for violations of campaign finance
rules in 1999 and 2000.
