Holiday Part-Time Workers Hope To Be Full-Time Workers

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Many U-S retailers are beginning to hire their extra workers for the holiday shopping season. But some are hoping to keep the workers on hand after the holidays in hopes of further improvement in the economy. Cracker Barrel restaurants says they are staffing up so they can ensure a good experience for their customers. Bentonville-based Wal-Mart is hiring the same number of holiday workers than usual -- fourteen-thousand. But they say they`re hoping for a better season than last year. Retail analysts say that many people currently working in retail may take better jobs if they become available. That would leave more vacancies in the field. But some companies say they are still being cautious about hiring on extra help before they see more positive signs of an economic recovery. Posted by Mike Hellgren
