The Switch Is On

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Starting today if you move to a new cell phone carrier, your number moves with you. No more losing touch with important business or personal contacts if you have to switch mobile companies. This new option can be exercised in the nation`s top metro areas. In Arkansas that means Pulaski, Saline, Lonoke and Faulkner counties. The rest of Arkansas and the rest of the country`s smaller areas go on-line in May. Switches can only occur between companies in the same local area. Experts warn would-be movers that you still have to deal with any early-out penalties in your current contract when you decide to leave. You may also have to buy a new phone compatible with your new company`s network. Changes are supposed to take about 3 hours to complete. But, the company you want to move to isn`t the only one in control of the process. The carrier you`re leaving has a role in the changeover as well as a third-party clearinghouse, so expect some glitches.
