A former secretary of the Clarksville Church of Christ has pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from the church. Forty-seven-year-old Karen Ammons is to be sentenced December 18th. Ammons pleaded guilty to one count of theft by deception. Prosecutors say she may have taken up to 150-thousand dollars over a five-year period. Ammons was accused of padding her paycheck and writing other church checks to herself, then hiding the thefts by altering the church`s books. Ammons attorney says he and the prosecution have agreed to a plea bargain in which Ammons will serve three years in prison and pay restitution of about 150-thousand dollars.
