The daughter of a former police officer was arrested Wednesday on charges she stole more than $53,000 from her late father`s pension. Eddeane Garrett of Little Rock was chared with one count of theft by deception and four counts of felony fraud. If convicted, she could spend up to 20 years in prison and be fined $15,000. According to a police affidavit, Garrett submitted notarized documents to the Police Pension Board indicating her mother was still alive. Her mother received her benefits from her late husband`s pension, up until her death in 1998. A private investigator hired by the Pension Board found the death certificate of Garrett`s mother. After cross referencing the social security numbers on the death certificate with the one on the checks, Garrett was arrested. Garrett is expected to be arraigned Thursday morning.
