Updated: January 7, 2009
A Jacksonville developer now has possession of the historic Hotel Pines in Pine Bluff. A nonprofit caretaking group turned over the property to Davidson Properties today for ten dollars. Davidson Properties plans to renovate the six-story hotel. Citizens United to Save the Pines took on responsibility for repairs and upkeep at the hotel 12 years ago in the hope someone would eventually come along with a plan to use the property. A group founder, Sue Trulock, says the organization is confident Davidson will carry through with their plans. Glen Davidson and his son, Alex, plan to begin renovating the bottom two floors of hotel and lease the space to businesses once the initial work is completed. The Davidsons expect the hotel renovations to cost as much as three million dollars and take up to 18 months. Posted by Mike Hellgren
