Updated: January 7, 2009
Money for major construction projects at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, Little Rock Air Force Base and Warren is included in a military construction bill approved yesterday by Congress. Several million dollars for an upgrade of a white-phosphorous munitions production facility at the arsenal are included in the 9.3 billion dollar measure. At Little Rock Air Force Base, 3.6 million would be spent for new facilities for training crews and maintenance personnel on the C-130J. That`s the latest version of the Air Force`s workhorse transport aircraft. Another project included in the bill would give the Arkansas Air National Guard 6.2 million for for equipment that will allow airmen to analyze photographs from unmanned spy aircraft, or drones. At Warren, a new National Guard armory is to be built with 3.6 million.
