Investigation Into Shooting In Southwest Arkansas

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Investigators say a Louisiana man shot to death at the home of a former Arkansas city attorney last week had a lengthy criminal record. Kenneth Bruce Dukes of Haughton, Louisiana, appears to have died of a single gunshot wound. Dukes was killed Wednesday at the home of John Patton the Fourth, former city attorney for Lewisville and Stamps. Patton apparently told Lafayette County deputies who responded to his home when an attempted break-in was reported that he fired the fatal shot. According to the Bossier Parish, Louisiana, Sheriff Department records division, Dukes was arrested on six drug-related charges during the past 14 years. Dukes was charged with a parole violation in 1997. His latest arrest was September eighth, when he was charged with five drug offenses and obstruction of justice. Investigators believe Patton and Dukes were acquainted. No charges have been filed against Patton. Posted by Mike Hellgren
