Updated: January 7, 2009
About forty Democratic protesters squared off against College Republicans down the street from the building where Bush is speaking at a fund-raiser. The groups stood yelling and chanting at each other in a designated "free-speech zone" further down on President Clinton Avenue in downtown Little Rock. About thirty-five volunteers and staffers from retired General Wesley Clark`s campaign headquarters arrived to back up a lone Dean supporter who was being heckled by the Republicans from University of Central Arkansas. Lisa Burks, president of Hot Springs chapter of the National Organization of Women, said the Republicans held signs reading "We`ll be on the ballot" in reference to the tossup Democratic primary. The Democrats chanted back: "W is for Wes" and "Redefeat Bush" and "Bush Go home." Around 11:45 a.m. the crowd left.
