Air Force fighter jets were scrambled Monday
to intercept a privately owned plane that flew too close to the
White House.
President Bush was away at the time. He arrived in Little Rock
around 11 a.m. this morning.
Vice President Dick Cheney and White House chief of staff Andrew
Card were moved temporarily to a secure location as a precautionary
measure. They resumed their normal routine soon after.
The privately owned plane was detected flying along the Potomac
River, when it entered restricted airspace.
Secret Service spokeswoman Jean Mitchell said fighters were
scrambled from nearby Andrews Air Force in Maryland and they
intercepted the plane and escorted it from the area.
The pilot is being questioned to determine if it was an
accident.
