Thanksgiving Vacuum Sealed for Soldiers

It may not feel much like the Thanksgiving season in Iraq, but some American soldiers will still get a taste of it...literally. The family members of the Army Reserve`s Alpha Company, 489th Engineer Battalion are cooking Thanksgiving dinner to send to their soldiers. The families are vacuum sealing 23 pecan pies, 350 yeast rolls, 60 cinnamon rolls and packing 21 jars each of cornbread dressing and sweet potato casserole. "They don`t really want it, they would rather just wait and have Thanksgiving in the middle of July if that`s when they come back," said Sandy Rostan, wife of the company`s first sergeant. That`s enough food for about 80 to 85 soldiers. But shipping it overseas could cost them over $400. Logan`s Farm has donated plenty of cured meat for the soldiers to have with their dinner. Meanwhile, one of the wives says the soldiers` morale is still pretty good.
