Updated: January 7, 2009
White County Sheriff`s deputies were a little surprised to find out who`s responsible for a counterfeit money ring. Investigators say two 16-year olds and one 15-year-old confessed to passing phony $10, $20, and possibly $100 bills. The teens attended Riverview High School where the bills were passed at the concession stand. Investigators saythey were also selling the bills to other students for half the marked value. "Of course the seal that runs in the $20, if they were cut properly they could be easily passed," said Sgt. John Slater, White County Sheriff`s Department. Slater says the found pretty sophisticated computer software at the residence of one of the teens. They`ve been in touch with the Secret Service over whether the bills were passed anywhere else. Meanwhile, Slater is advising area businesses to be cautious.
