breaking news
The family of an Arkansas man who emerged
from a vegetative state this summer after nearly two decades has
sold his story to a Hollywood production company.
Terry Wallis of Big Flat had been in a coma of varying degrees
from a 1984 car crash until July, when he suddenly spoke to his
mother.
His story spread worldwide, and after an extended bidding war,
Scott Bakula Productions agreed to a six-figure deal for the right
to make a screenplay.
Bakula, who starred in the N-B-C series "Quantum Leap" and the
football comedy "Necessary Roughness," produces films for
Paramount Pictures. He and partner Tom Spiroff will pitch the story
to television networks in coming weeks, said Drew Nederpelt, the
Wallis family`s agent.
Wallis` mother, Angilee, says her son desperately needs to
continue physical and speech therapy, which she is trying to
provide informally from home.
