Supporters Call Latest Education Plan a Compromise

Updated: January 7, 2009
It`s the third education plan released in the lead-up to a possible special session on education reform, and supporters say it could bridge some long-standing gaps. The head of the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators, Kellar Noggle, says, "We set out to find a common ground, a middle-of-the-ground approach." Noggle says his plan falls in between Governor Huckabee`s plan (which could include consolidation) and the rural educators` plan (which has no numbers-based plan). Other details include upping curriculum requirements to 38 credits and raising minimum teacher salary to $34,000.
