A Desha County Circuit Court jury has convicted Dumas Mayor Clay Oldner on two misdeanor counts. But after three hours of deliberations yesterday at Arkansas City, jurors deadlocked on two felony charges against Oldner. The mayor was found guilty of abuse of office, and fined 100 dollars with no jail time. The jury also found him guilty of a second misdeanor charge, witness tampering, and imposed a 200 dollar fine. The felony counts against Oldner were theft and public-records tampering. The charges were brought after a state audit showed apparent misuse of more than 30-thousand dollars in city funds.
