Arkansas` two U-S senators were in the
majority today, as the Senate voted to ban a procedure that critics
call "partial birth abortion."
The Senate passed the bill on a 64-to-34 vote. The vote sends
President Bush a measure that both sides say could alter the future
of U-S abortion rights. A court challenge is certain.
Years in the making, the bill imposes the most far-reaching
limits on abortion since the Supreme Court in 1973 confirmed a
woman`s right to end a pregnancy. Voting for the bill were 17
Democrats, including Arkansas` Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln, and
47 Republicans. The House passed the same measure a few weeks ago.
Bush has said he`d sign the measure.
