President Bush`s job and favorability
ratings continue to slide in the latest Michigan poll, but he`s
still more likely to be voters` choice than Democratic candidates
Howard Dean or Wesley Clark.
Forty-nine percent of voters polled gave Bush a favorable
rating.
Forty-five percent gave him an unfavorable rating and six
percent were undecided in the poll of 600 likely voters.
In the poll, 60 percent gave Bush a negative job rating on his
handling of the economy and 57 percent gave him a negative rating
on his handling of Iraq.
Despite those misgivings, Bush got 46 percent of the vote
compared to 36 percent for Dean in a matchup with the former
Vermont governor. Bush also bested Clark, a retired Army general
from Arkansas, 45 percent to 36 percent.
The poll did NOT do head-to-head matchups for any of the other
seven Democrats in the race.
