New Bridges Over The Mississippi River Being Considered

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Tennessee highway authorities are talking seriously about building two bridges over the Mississippi River, making it easier to travel between that state and Arkansas. One bridge would connect Interstate 55 to Interstate 69 north of Memphis and would be the center of the planned 22-mile Osceola Toll Parkway. A second bridge would support both vehicle and railroad traffic south of I-55 and north of Tunica, Mississippi. Tennessee is closely studying those projects, but officials there say they are at least eight years away from completion. For Arkansas` part, state transportation officials say they`ve met with concerned parties to let them know about any procedural steps that would be necessary. Posted by Mike Hellgren
