Girl Scouts Launch New Image

Updated: January 7, 2009
Girl Scouts one of the oldest service organizations in the Nation, teaching young girls leadership and self-reliance. Now, it`s launched a new program to get that message across to the older crowd. "Studio 2B" is a new intiative, designed to attract older girls to the group. It doesn`t reference the Girl Scouts at all, and members don`t have to wear uniforms. Organizers hope to attract girls who`ve never been troop members, or lost interest as they got older. "We always tried to keep ahead of the times and try to be the experts on what girls want and what girls need," says Barbara Hall, with the Girl Scouts Ouachita Council. Right now, there are more than one million girls scouts in the U.S. 20,000 are in Arkansas.
