Updated: January 7, 2009
The U.S Supreme Court will hear arguments next year on whether the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional. At issue is the phrase "One Nation Under God, added to the Pledge in 1954 through an act of Congress. Critics say the phrase encourages government support of religion. Others say the pledge should be left alone. The Court hasn`t said when it will hear the case.
